Join us on Constitution Avenue NW for the 250th celebration of July 4th at the home of the Declaration of Independence! We’ll celebrate on the steps of the National Archives with re-enactors, live music, family fun, and the iconic Declaration reading ceremony beginning at 8:30 a.m.

Enjoy extended hours at the National Archives from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., June 22–July 5, 2026

Please note: On June 23, the National Archives will operate on its regular schedule of 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. due to a private event.

National Archives Foundation Unveils Freedom Plane Traveling Exhibition for America’s 250th

The “Freedom Plane National Tour: Documents That Forged a Nation” is a traveling exhibition that will bring Founding-era documents to eight American cities throughout 2026.

Inspired by the Bicentennial Freedom Train, the Freedom Plane National Tour will make historic and consequential documents fundamental to America’s founding accessible across the nation to celebrate the nation’s 250th anniversary.
